Marie-Laure AKIN-OLUGBADE, is a Cameroonian national. She has appointed Director General, West Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office, the 1st May 2018. Until this appointment, she was the Deputy Director General, West Africa Region business delivery office. She has over 27 years of broad and deep experience in the development sector in Africa. She joined the Bank in 1991 as Finance Assistant and has since held various positions including Senior Investment Officer, Principal Financial Analyst, Manager, Financial Technical Services Division, Resident Representative as well as Coordinator of Regional Public Private Partnership Hubs. She has over the years provided technical, operational and strategic leadership in various aspects of the Bank’s work programs and coordinated as well as provided advisory services including the leading multi-donor dialogues on behalf of the Bank.
As the Deputy Director General for West Africa Region, Marie-Laure doubled as the Country Manager for Cabo Verde, Cote D’Ivoire, Gambia and Guinea Bissau, and led the Bank’s multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams to originate and successfully deliver significantly large business transactions across fourteen countries. In the process, she managed a high performing portfolio of sovereign and non-sovereign operations in support of the Bank’s High 5 Agenda.
Marie Laure holds a Master of Applied Economics from Universite Paris IX Dauphine, Paris, France and a Bachelor of Applied Economics from the same University. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management with specialization in Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
