Stéphane Essaga holds a doctorate in law from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, an MBA in International Oil & Gas Management from the University of Dundee (United Kingdom) and a Masters in Tax Administration from the University of Douala. Chief Tax Inspector for nearly 17 years, he has a rich experience in the tax governance he gained through his successive responsibilities in the administration of his country as an inspector-auditor but also as a international consultant implementing training and capacity-building programs for Civil Society Organizations, finance officials and magistrates on topics such as the international legal framework and mining activities, oil and mining taxation, identification of fraud cases in the extractive sector, illicit financial flows. He is also the author of several articles in several Western magazines and the voluminous book “Hydrocarbon Law in Africa: commented collection of texts”, published by Harmattan in France in 2013., and the latest book “ the sources of hydrocarbon law in Africa “ in december 2018. He has just been admitted into the prestigious Goldcorp Research and Innovation Chair in Natural Resources and Energy Law at University of Laval in Canada, and is the founder of the African Research Center in Oil and mining Policies since 2009.
