Alain Blaise Batongue
As the Publishing Director of “Mutations” and Manager of the press group South Media Corporation (from July 2007 to February 2012), I led in my capacity as President of the Cameroonian section of the International Union of Francophone Press; I was elected International Deputy President in the same institution and at the same time I was Media Consultant with the Francophonie. This enabled me after many loyal services, to keep to this day close contact with national and international media as well.
For a little over 5 years, I am the Executive Secretary of the “Groupement Interpatronal du Cameroun” (GICAM), which is the most important Employer Organisation in Cameroon, ensuring the protection of the interests of companies. I represent this Grouping in over fifteen Commissions, Committees and Executive Boards of public structures. For this reason, I have a panoramic view over the economic situation of the country and a privileged relationship with decision-makers whom I now meet on a weekly basis and frequently invite for discussions within our Grouping.
Recently elected as Deputy President of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) of the African Union for Central Africa, this is yet an another occasion for me to ensure the best advocacy on the preoccupations of the civil society and the private sector of the country and the sub region, but also an opportunity to improve my knowledge on files and themes of a continent which is increasingly courted by others.
All three former and current positions make me at 52, a key figure in the advocacy on some matters which are specific to companies, the knowledge of the realities of public administrations and the planning of issues on the future of the continent whose solutions may have an impact on the business environment of Africa.
