Adama Soro
Country Manager Endeavour Mining Burkina

Adama SORO built his academic training around macroeconomics and business management. From the University of Abidjan to the Canadian Public Service – (Campus Bisson in Gatineau/Ottawa) and Ouagadougou, he has successively obtained a University Diploma in Scientific Education (DUES) specializing in Special and Higher Mathematics, Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management Sciences and certification in Global Learning Initiative for International Trade.

He has also completed several training courses in the mining sector, notably on the management and economic evaluation of a deposit at Queen University in Kingston, Canada, and in CSR with the International Institute for Development in collaboration with McGill University of Canada.

With over 16 years of experience in the private and public sectors, he has worked in International Business Development with French and Canadian diplomatic and cooperation services, International Trade, and extractive sector management.

He has been involved in several national and regional initiatives as a Trade Commissionner at the Canadian Embassy in Burkina Faso — where he facilitated the permitting process of many Canadian mining companies — including the signing of the first Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement – FIPA in 2015.

He won the trust of the Canadian company IAMGOLD where he has been since October 2015 in the position of
Superintendent Corporate Affairs of the ESSAKANE Gold Mine.

At the national level in Burkina Faso, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Mines, where he chairs the CSR and Communication Committee. He is also vice-president of the first multi-stakeholder forum on CSR in Burkina, bringing together NGOs and mining companies.

Also a lecturer and international consultant in the field of governance of the extractive sector, particularly on Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility issues, he has participated in several missions of study, training and policy development on CSR and local content in the mining industry including for the World Bank.

Adama SORO joins the Endeavour Mining Group in his capacity as Country Director for Burkina Faso. He will have to represent the company and defend his material and moral interests throughout Burkinabe territory to all stakeholders. He will report to Regional Executive Vice President for Public Affairs, CSR and Security, Pascal Bernasconi.

Adama Soro is married with three children.
