Prof. Dr. Tegawendé F. Bissyandé is a scientist, an engineer, an educator, an expert consultant and technologist. He holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Bordeaux (2013), and an engineer degree in Telecommunications from French Grandes Ecoles (2009). Tegawendé has a background in ICT, across its different layers, from Telecom, informations systems to applications, with a perspective on reliability and security engineering based on Artificial Intelligence. He currently holds a Professor position in Computer Science at the University of Luxembourg, and is also a lecturer at the Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo as well as regular contributor to higher education in Senegal, Tchad, etc. Tegawendé has considerable experience in capacity building for emerging computing technologies, including how to leverage Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Software Repair for building safe and reliable digital solutons.
Passionate about Africa’s future, he believes that a sustainable path to economical emergence requires strengthening University curricula in developing countries.
Therefore, Tegawendé spends a significant amount of time teaching at several universities in sub-Saharan Africa and advocating the need for demand-driven inter- university cooperation. Tegawendé has published over 90 research papers in top tier venues on a variety of topics in computer science, and he is currently the principal investigator of industry-academia partnership projects that address challenges in computing emerging topics such as FinTech and Cybersecurity. Tegawendé is the first recipient from Burkina Faso (and from West-Africa) of the prestigious European Research Council Starting grant for most promising early-career researchers.
